Description

Do you want to lead a project where the library moves out into the community – to people, meeting places, and everyday life? Bjurholm Municipality is now seeking a project manager for the project Library on the Move, a development project aimed at increasing the library's accessibility and reaching residents who rarely or never visit the library.

Library on the Move is an outreach library project where the library's expertise, services, and reading promotion efforts are taken to places where people already are. The project aims to reduce gaps, strengthen relationships, and develop new working methods for the library's future operations. The project is intended to last for three years and is funded annually. The position pertains to project year 1 with the possibility of extension for an additional two years, provided that the project application is approved for a longer period.

Responsibilities

As project manager, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and developing the project in close collaboration with the regular library operations and the municipality's partners. The role combines strategic thinking with practical outreach work. You will often be working independently in the field and have great freedom – and significant responsibility – to shape the working methods based on local needs. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • leading and coordinating the project from start-up to follow-up
  • working outreach in the municipality at various meeting places
  • building relationships with residents, associations, and businesses
  • offering library services, loans, and reading promotion activities outside the library premises
  • collecting, documenting, and analyzing experiences and needs
  • developing methods and working practices for outreach library operations
  • collaborating with library staff, communicators, and external actors
  • contributing to reporting and materials for the project's continuation

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • has a degree in library and information science or another education that the employer deems equivalent, combined with experience in similar work
  • has experience in project work or independent development work
  • is comfortable meeting people of various ages and life situations
  • has a good ability to work independently and take initiative
  • has an interest in reading promotion, participation, and accessibility
  • expresses themselves well in spoken and written Swedish
  • has good digital competence

It is advantageous if you have:

  • experience in outreach activities, popular education, or cultural projects
  • experience working with children and youth
  • experience collaborating within municipal operations or associations
  • experience in documentation, follow-up, or analysis in project form
  • local knowledge, or a willingness to quickly understand the municipality's conditions.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. To thrive in the role, we believe you are:

  • attentive and relationship-building
  • unpretentious and flexible
  • curious and solution-oriented
  • comfortable working without ready-made templates

We offer

We offer a warm, creative, and varied job where you truly make a difference for the municipality's citizens. A broad and stimulating position with great freedom to develop your own ideas. You will be an important part of a small but dedicated team where everyone contributes to the whole.

In Bjurholm Municipality, employees can take advantage of both wellness grants and wellness time.

Conditions

  • Project employment of about 70% during 2026 with the possibility of extension if necessary decisions are made
  • Start date according to agreement
  • Location: Bjurholm, with work throughout the municipality

Bjurholm Municipality actively chooses advertising platforms and potential recruitment support for each recruitment. We will contact those we choose to advertise with. Therefore, we kindly decline all offers to purchase advertising space or recruitment support. We ask for respect for this.
